-
Yes. Homework stress is often a sign that a child isn’t receiving the right kind of support. We help turn those daily battles into progress by identifying learning gaps and using targeted strategies to build skills—and confidence.
-
Our reading intervention is built on the Orton-Gillingham approach, a structured, evidence-based method proven to help struggling readers.
We begin with a comprehensive informal reading assessment to identify gaps in:
Phonics and decoding
Word recognition
Spelling and writing
Comprehension
Phonemic awareness
From there, we build a personalized plan. Sessions typically occur twice a week over the course of a year to create lasting change.
-
Your child will:
Identify upper- and lowercase letters and their sounds
Read real and nonsense words
Demonstrate phonemic awareness (manipulating sounds within words)
Complete spelling tasks
Show comprehension of simple passages
The goal is to understand which reading and spelling skills need to be strengthened through direct instruction.
-
While we recommend an educational neuropsychological evaluation for deeper insights, it’s not required to begin tutoring. If your child hasn’t been evaluated, we’ll start with our in-house assessment and go from there
