Our Mission

Hope Haven’s mission is to ensure that children and families realize
their full potential by providing specialized services
and individualized educational opportunities.

Our Vision

Individuals served by Hope Haven will be more independent,
educated and engaged in community life.

At least 20% of children and youth under age 21 have a developmental, psychological, behavioral, or academic achievement problem requiring specialized services. Half of these children have multiple issues.

When a child is diagnosed with an intellectual and/or developmental disability, it means much more than the anxiety of an unclear future. It also means the worry of a changed reality, the dread of untenable costs, and a complicated bureaucracy. Very often there is hopelessness. That’s why there is Hope Haven.

Families come to Hope Haven when they have tried other places that don’t fit. They have tried private and public schools, as well as rehabilitation clinics and other resources. We take children who have been told they can’t learn and show them they can. And they do learn. We take children who are dealing with mental and social issues and help restore and strengthen their lives. Through a combination of educational and clinical services, Hope Haven serves children with special needs whether they are educational, emotional, or developmental.

For the majority of our clients, the challenges will be lifelong. From their first steps to their first job, we are here for the whole journey. Hope Haven provides a continuum of care to help overcome as many barriers as possible, enabling individuals to learn, self-regulate, and gain the self-reliance and confidence to become productive.

For parents, the barriers are almost always a combination of information and finances. Hope Haven acts as an advocate on both fronts by:

  1. Educating in the best interest of the child does not happen everywhere.

  2. Advocating with and for our families by meeting with senators, congressmen, school administrators, and social workers to make sure there is full disclosure of available government funding.

  3. Developing personalized family plans for consistency and maximum benefit.

  4. Researching all possible insurance and government grant avenues.

  5. Offering multi-disciplinary treatments to reduce the fragmentation of services.

  6. Fundraising, so that families faced with extremely high deductibles and co-payments can affordably access our services.

Hope Haven is here to serve these families, not only on our small campus, but we take our mission into the community as well. The needs of low-income students in the areas of mental health in particular are tremendous. Many have anger and/or social issues that can also impact their classmates and teachers. Helping one child very often means helping the whole class.

Hope Haven’s constant challenge is to identify ways in which we can continue providing the highest quality services at affordable/reduced/sliding-scale rates and, in cases of extreme need, provide these services free of charge through scholarships.

The strength of Hope Haven is that we change lives every day, and we want to be able to help those who need it the most, but can afford it the least. What could be better than giving someone hope and helping them achieve it? There are many ways to give. Please consider Leadership, Annual, or Planned Giving.
