Hope Haven Educational Interventions
Every child learns differently. At Hope Haven, we recognize this and offer tailored tutoring and intervention services throughout the year. Whether your child needs support in reading, math, study skills, executive functions, or life skills, we're here to help.
Is Homework a Constant Battle?
If your child struggles with school or dreads homework, it's time to reach out. We're committed to turning those challenges into triumphs.
Reading Intervention
Does your child shy away from reading? The root of the problem might be deeper than you think. Challenges can arise from:
Difficulty recognizing sounds or letters
Struggling with reading words automatically
Lacking comprehension skills
While we recommend an evaluation by an educational neuropsychologist, we're flexible. If your child hasn't been assessed, we'll initiate our comprehensive Reading Assessment to identify areas of deficiency. Our interventions are rooted in the Orton Gillingham approach, tailored to each student and delivered systematically. With twice-weekly sessions over a year, we aim to transform your child's reading journey, from word attack strategies to comprehension.
Math Tutoring
From elementary arithmetic to high school pre-calculus, Hope Haven has the right tutor for your child. If you're not ready for a weekly commitment, consider our group tutoring option, Hope Math.
Study Skills Tutoring
Beyond academics, mastering study techniques, organization, and test-taking strategies are crucial. Hope Haven offers one-on-one sessions to equip your child with these essential skills.

educational development services
An informal reading assessment is used by Hope Haven to structure our reading intervention. This assessment does not replace a neuropsychological evaluation or provide a diagnosis of a learning disability. Further, schools are not required to use this assessment to provide accommodations.
This reading assessment includes the skills a student needs for successful reading. Your child will be asked to identify letters, both capital and lower-case, as well as to say its sound and write the letter. Then your child will read real and nonsense words of increasing difficulty. The assessment also includes spelling to assess the use of letters to represent sounds. Your student will be assessed on the ability to manipulate sounds within words (phonemic awareness) and comprehension.
The benefit of our assessment is to identify the reading and spelling skills of a student so that any gap can be closed using explicit and systematic instruction.
